I was just trying to find info about this as well.. Does anyone have any charts or info on head loss resistance for 5/16" tubing?

    Calcs

The Uponor/Wirsbo ADS software will tell you what the flow rates and headloss are when doing QT. This makes pump selection a "no-brainer".

    Direct from the CDAM!

Here's our 5/16 hePEX pressure loss chart. Find the flow rate for the loop in the left hand column. Then find the head loss per foot in the appropriate water temperature chart (round DOWN if you're in the middle). Then multiply that number by the total individual loop length--including leaders--to find the head loss per loop. Do that for each loop, then take the highest head loop and use that to start sizing your circulator. You'll need to add any head you'll encounter in series -- manifold supply and return piping, head loss through any motorized valve or tempering valve (which can be quite significant), etc. If you need more, drop me an e-mail. Hope this helps!

    General rule of thumb??

I have never found the need for anything other than a 15-58 Grundfos. I keep the loop lengths to less than 180 ft.........always. This means a couple more loops off the manifold sometimes but it eliminates the need for a high head circ. There are however, exceptions to every rule.
