Of course I have to play with the first. Can't concentrate only on heating...
Yes, it flies by flapping its' wings. About $150. Not sure how easy to find--definitely not a big box item. Comes with different control frequency crystals multiples can fly at the same time. If you have difficulty finding, write me.
To view movie you'll probably have to right click, "save as" and rename using .wmv extension.0 -
Will it fly indoors?
I could use this at my seminars.Retired and loving it.0 -
Was told no problem in a good-sized space. Weighs 8oz and has a rubberized protective body. Doubt it could hurt anyone as long as they were fully aware it's flying around. It's charging right now. Presume it does take some skill to control so you'd want to be well practiced...0 -
Sick!
That is too cool!
Only downside is after flying it a few times I can see myself losing interest.

Likely--we all loose interest in toys after a while...
Was told that living birds will actually take interest and you can play with them as well!0 -
The New Predator...

How about
Tieing a HeatingHelp.Com streamer from the back.
Make me think I'm at the Joisey shore.
Too cool!

Wind got gusty just as it was fully charged. It does not like gusty wind! At least it's robust! Certainly flies--quite rapidly. Can tell you need a large, tree-free space to learn how to fly it nicely. Luckily there's a park with a huge open field just a block away.0 -
Charge is no problem
Dan's wind will keep it aloft.

Hunters...
Pull....BLAM BLAM BLAM, "what in the tarnations is that beast, boy, I don't know but I bet it grills up nice"
Guys from our shop want to buy a thermal imaging camera to take hunting with them.
Looks pretty cool Mike. Good anniversary gift for the in-laws. I have always wanted to give them "The Bird"
Regards,
Paul

You just gave the PERFECT solution to when I tire of the thing. LOTS of duck hunting around here!
Rather like 4th of July "deconstruction" of carefully constructed and painted models that were cluttering my room. The rudder of the Bismark yielded nicely to a firecracker...

Looks similar to an Alaskan mosquito *~/:)

its a bird, its a plane!
hi mike , actually its called an orthinptor. (sp)? i have a rubber band powered one that will stay in the air for only 30 sec. or so.free flight, no rc control. i also fly rc gliders and elec. powered planes, but the coolest stuff is the indoor micro planes, gliders, heli's and orthinopters. the physics of flight interest me almost as much as the physics of steam heating. have fun! rb p.s.come to think of it, hand launching a 1.5 m glider and hooking into a big thermal(heating related) and corkscrewing up till you can barely see it for 45 mins. or so is a bigger thrill than any boiler room i've ever seen.0 -
You guys...
...will really like this outfit. Paul McCready is the founder. He's developed various human powered airplanes and even a pterodactyl that steers by turning its head, just like the originals! Very creative. http://www.aerovironment.com/

Live Alternative
I've got a real one. Requires slightly more care than the above model. He used to fly on command, but after flying him outdoors once, it was rather risky to predict his return. Now he's clipped and loses flying ability. Let me know when you master the toy...

Different Models?
Do they make different models? If they have one that looks like a goose I'll take one for myself and one for Mark Hunt. What kind of range does it have?

Awwwk! Pretty Bird!
Very cool pet, Paul. What kind is it? He looks friendly and hand-fed. Beautiful colors.
I had a friend years ago with a Conure I think it was, named Spike. Long-lived and talkative. "This is a bird that will speak at my funeral", it was said.0 -

(Modified for a wider audience
A Wallie walks into the supply store with an Eclectus Parrot on his shoulder.
The clerk looks up and says, "That is just beautiful! Where did you get it??
The parrot says, "The Wall" on HeatingHelp.com. They got thousands of them!"0 -

Does it give off CO emissions?

Believe there's an "advanced" three-channel model--this is tthe "basic" two-channel. Two channel varies wing flapping speed and direction of the tail. Third channel changes the pitch of the wings.
Haven't had a chance to fly it again because we've had nothing but storms since they started Thursday. Manual says 8-12 minutes of flying time on a charge.0 -
its a bird

Just yesterday.....
while burning up some headers..the "Electric Canaries "chirped up....YIKES!
the only thing worse was a job in a ladies home who owned her very own Arbitraium. when the smokies started up, every other bird in the place went ape Sh...ugar. and it was a real hassel to bribe, cajole and coax them all back to "Normal" *~/:)0 -
