Happiness in Clip Tie Land

last week. Neither had ever seen a ClipTie tool much less radiant tube. We tied close to 7000 feet of tube with just a few mi-fires during the learning curve.

There was an issue with the feed spring tension also. The new machinest at Watts Radiant discovered the problem and has a simple fix.

Keep 'em clean is the key. After every job or so flush out the dirt.

The wear marks on several of these attest to the mileage they have seen.

Also an early, very heavy, prototype.

    Happiness in Clip Tie Land!

That’s right folks my guys are so happy that Watts finally got their act together and fixed the plastic problems with the ties!! After getting two boxes of 6000 each and not being able to use them we were not happy. The last batch they only sent us a bag of 960 and we used half the bag and everyone worked even it the cold.

Hey Hot Rod! Boy is it nice to have this thing working again!! My guys are glad I didn’t give up. They hate to bend over to tie tube.

    Clip-tie a Godsend

Nothing makes me get outta bed and to the job faster than knowing I am going to install some Pex for a concrete pour and get to use my Clip-tie tool!!!!

Dude it is soooooooo cool. I had done a couple kneel down jobs and just hated it, but thanks to Hot Rods' genius (and the guys at Watts Radiant) I have been using the clip-tie tool for a few years now and love it. In cold weather I just spray on some WD-40 and it clips great! Occasionally you get a couple sticks of clips that don't stay together, but that is very rare now. I would definitely buy this tool before even bothering with the kneel down method... pays for itself on the first job!

    I had two of them

and they did not work well for me. John Sweaney of Watts stepped up and gave me full credit back. It means a lot to me when a company stands behind their products. If and when the tool is re-designed and several dozen contractors are singing it's praise, I might be tempted to try again.

Kudo's to Watts Radiant for being an upstanding company. Special thanks to John for expediting and handling my problem personally.

    Regards,

    PR

Problem was not in the tool!

Paul, the problem was in the plastics they used for the ties! At first I though it was the tool too. I took them apart clean them lube them and still had the same problem and I have two. My father was in the plastics business and he said that there were too much reground plastics in the ties making them bridal they need to use more virgin plastic to make them work right. I almost was ready to give up but the new bag of ties I got worked great the other day with the temps being in the high 20’s. If they come out with a redesign I hope they make it to hold more ties.

    Hot Rod!

You say a machinist discovered the fix. What was the fix? Can we replace a Spring or something to help it work better? I'm coming up on a slab job where I'd like to use it and not have it jam on me. I need it to work. My knees hurt. :( WW
