I have a buderus 115 oil unit,I'm looking for the best value in an outdoor reset control. I have standard base board and one zone of radiant w/standard pumps and mix-valve. I know I could use the ecomatic but was wondering what else may be available. Thx

i have the g115 with 2107 outdoor reset and lt-160 tank
i think the 2107 would work good becase it can control 2 circuit's one for the radient and the next for the high temp basebord. pluse it controls your dhw and i think it looks good sitting on top of the boiler.
good luck

which control
IMHO it is always best to select the appliance manufacturer's integrated control as it has to pass the same rigorous testing and certification procedure as the rest of their product pallette.
In my experience, aftermarket control companies cannot anticipate all of the needs of the appliances they contol nor can they be easily integrated as an overall system control.Specialty contol manufacturers, with the exception of sophisticated building managers, have done an excellent job in bringing us out of the controls stone age but their forte is in solving discrete rather than integrated control problems. Multiple task specific controls have to be installed, wired and integrated by the system installer. For example a short tour through Tekmar's product catalog will show that they have designed discrete controls to solve just about every contol challenge imaginable. Particularly exciting is the line of extremely versatile and unique snowmelt and boiler staging controls.
As they and other control manufacturers have to be all things to all appliances, they are less adept at integrating, say for example, boiler health, domestic hot water production, mixing valve control, staging two levels of boiler, outdoor reset of boiler and mixing valve, multiple timer functions, external call for heat, automatic daylight savings time adjustment, and real time learning, all in one control and offering this in a prepared, prewired package.
The appliance manufacturer on the other hand knows the needs and capbilities of their own products best so my vote goes with integrated controls.0 -
tekmar
Consider installing a tekmar control. All controls are listed on the website: www.tekmarcontrols.com.
If you need advice on selecting a control, call us direct at 250-545-7749 or call your local tekmar representative. All rep's are listed on the website as well.

Outdoor Reset
The Buderus Logamatic R2107 is made by Buderus and provides many features. Some important features include the outdoor reset (modulates the boiler water temparature based on the outdoor temperature), domestic hot water priority (the control "learns" what Btu is needed to heat the tank) day/night set back programs, freeze protection and other user friendly features. There are also features that help insure a long service of the boiler by protecting the boiler from flue gases condensating inside the boiler, minimum boiler temperatures to help reduce possible chimney condensation, 3 high limits to prevent the boiler from operating beyound safe temperatures and other features as well.
The use of an outdoor reset control either by Buderus or Tekmar will help decrease your fuel consumption and provide a more comfortable heat. Tekmar Controls are acceptable on Buderus equipment if not using our Logamatic R2107. If there are any questions please contact us at 1-800-283-3787.0
