Hoyt Domestic Water Heater

Hello: I've faxed you what I have. Hoyt used Robertshaw gas valves. You should understand that Hoyt stopped making heaters, I believe in 1989 and that control setpoint can drift with time. It's good to look at the equipment more often than every fifteen years! For example, I would not expect a relief valve that hadn't been tested for 15 years to perform reliably.

Does anyone know where I might be able to get an installation and operations manual for a 1980 vintage Hoyt Residential gas fired domestic water heater?

    Any assistance would be appreciated

    Yes, but...

Hello: I collect the old installation manuals, but what info are you looking for? There are not a lot of differences in installation and operation with conventional residential gas heaters. I do suggest you have a look at that heater's anode and relief valve!

  • Hi Larry,

I would like to see the entire manual. In particular I am interested in any information relative to the thermostat setpoints, and discussion on hot water temperatures and setpoints.

  • Larry,

I would greatly apreciate it if you could fax me a copy of the Hoyt manual! My fax number is 310-915-6107.

  • Thanks Larry!

I have checked the heater and it seems to be working perfectly. However, the owner claims that the water,at times, is excessively hot. They keep it at the normal setpoint, and I have consistently recorded a pretty steady 130 degrees F with 100% hw. The owners seem to think the temperature spikes at times.

    Any thoughts?

    look to the plumbing...

...first for variable temperatures. Anything that alters flow, like other water draws, or the hot/cold mix, like cross connections or a hot recirc line, can affect the delivered temperature. I can be of more use to you once I know a bit more about the system.
