{a href="www.somelink.com"} SomeLinkPhrase {/a}
replace all { or } with < or >0 -
here ya go !
Subject: HTML coding a link to a page.
a href="http://www.heatinghelp.com" target="_blank">Link to Heatinghelp.com"
will look like this...
Link to Heatinghelp.com
Obviously, change the document reference to your own web page instead of www.heatinghelp.com, and the text which says "Link to Heatinghelp.com" could be any other message.
The target="_blank" element tells the browser to open the linked page in a new window, rather than replacing the page you're currently viewing.
Lastly, at any time the folks at invision.net that host this forum could choose to disable this functionality. It can be a bit dangerous since a malicious user could embed other nasty stuff.

I agree,
it is a good question.
Now, no offense, but could someone decipher what Mr. Einsielder just wrote?

Adding A Link
If you're looking at the website/page, right click on the address, and it will go to white lettering on a blue background. At the same time, a drop down menu appears. One of the choices will be "copy". Left click on it. The address is now "in the chamber", for lack of a better term on my part. When your cursor is on a page like this, right click. The same little menu drops down. Click on "paste", and the link will be attached where the cursor is flashing.0 -

cut & paste vs link
Tony,
What you are describing is a cut and paste of the web site name. Until tonight, that is the only way that I ever knew to post a link.
However, what Eins & Phil have posted converts that information into a direct link, that anyone can click to directly go to a site. No more need to cut & paste.
This oil dog just learned a new trick.
Thanks to all

A bit more information
I found that when you post the link it is in text, but when you hit the PREVIEW, the link shows as the colored link and you can click it to test if you link worked.

Can anyone tell that I am easily amused tonight : )

Here you go John...
Instructions attached as an image because if you type correctly, you've created the link!
If you mess up, things in the current thread might be affected, but it won't affect otherthreads.
