titlted water level EG

it means the steam is having trouble leaving the boiler. Start by checking the following:

1- Is the low-water cutoff installed in the proper place on the boiler? If so, is it wired correctly?

2- Is the boiler piping done to manufacturer's specs? If this EG is a Weil-McLain and you have two 3" risers coming up from the boiler I would suspect that at least this part of the piping is OK.

3- Is the burner over-fired?

4- Is the boiler way oversized with regard to the system?

5- Is something in the system such as inadequate venting holding back the steam flow from the boiler?

6- Is the pressuretrol set too high, or is the pigtail plugged?

Let us know how you make out.

I have a boiler that will not call for feed, even when the water drops out of the glass. But if I shut off the gas flame, within a minute it will call for fill. It seems the opposite of the situation on page 50 of Dan's "Lost" book, because the "shallow" end is under the (2) 3 inch risers.

I thought about adding a probe, but there aren't any good choices left.

I skimmed it, and boiled the water on the stove just fine. Heats nice and quiet too.

    Any help appreciated.
