Energy/fuel costs in Canada

He told me that the estimate for heating oil price increase is looking to be 45%. If that is true, then we are certainly in for it also in the US.

Looks like heating systems that are running at high efficiencies will be the cat's pajamas this year. While the tradgedy of LA and MS is obvious, there will also be a terrific opportunity this year in the servicing of existing systems and the replacing of poorly operating boilers etc.

If a contractor can not make money in this environment, it will have to be for lack of trying. All the doors in the high heating areas of the US are being opened to some agressive marketing and learning from competent contractors.

Hope all of you have banner years this season.

    Natural Gas too

Terasen is making an application to raise the natural gas rates in western Canada by between 8% and 25% depending on area served. Geothermal companies can't keep up with the increased business - the higher the fuel rates rise, the better the paybacks.

Guess what Syncrude and the rest of the players need to boil water to extract oil from the tar sands....check out the volume of natural gas being demanded to Ft. McMurray and see what the major influences on natural gas supply and demand are....
