TRV prices opinion, please:

I am a homeowner and want to replace several standard radiator valves with thermostatic Radiator valves for both efficiency and comfort sake.

The local plumbing supply has Danfoss TRV's - they were more expensive than I was expecting. For a 1/2" right-angle TRV with the body mounted directly to the valve (ie, not a remote sensor), the valve AND body price was about $50. Just wanted to check with the experts to see if that sounds reasonable for a retail price. I'm looking at several hundred dollars worth of valves!

Thanks!

  • Considering what they do, they're a good value at TWICE that price! Even simple brass hand valves aren't cheap...

TRV's are the way to go.

$50 for the valve/actuator combination is about what I would expect to pay in the U.S. I've found that European prices seem to be lower, probably because they use TRV's more routinely.

Check Ebay. Right now there is a listing for Honeywell V110F valve bodies for $10 each.

    Steve

Steve, I was just quoted a much higher price. The price quoted above seems in line with what I have seen.

Chris, that would be a good deal

at anywhere America, finding a bunch of old trv's in a garage sale for 6 $ a piece is unlikely to happen every day of the week. for what these gizmos do you will have no regrets ever spending a dollar on them.
