    help...

I'm in desperate need of a pro. With Nat Gas prices set to skyrocket again this winter I have to update my one pipe steam boiler system or I won't be living here in the Spring after the Con Energy people get ALL my money this season. Last year was bad enough.
I have talked to many very helpful people on this site and am greatful for their advice and guidance. Now I need to find one in person. (Steam Head is too far away... but thanks for all the advice, Frank) I went to "Find a Pro" on the home page but the closest guy is 60 miles away! With gas at $3+ a gallon you can take a guess at his reaction... sorry!
I live in an historical neighborhood in Howell, MI and I know I could find this guy some more work other than mine. I'm about a half hour north of Ann Arbor and close to East Lansing, too. South of Flint by about a half hour, also.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated... otherwise, anybody want to buy an 1850 Italianate??

    Cheaper than moving!

The easiest way to save fuel is to insulate! It will save more than all you can do to the heating equipment. Oh the boiler needs to be as close to right on as possible but still insulating is how to keep the boiler off. you can research your own nat gas soultions if adequate help is not avalible. but, again insulating windows, walls, & a blower door inspection and sealing the air infiltration will do more to save $$$, than all you can do to the poor dumb boiler. With real estate is Location, Location, Location, with heating its insulation ~~ ~~ ~~.

    Call Krutsch

Call Krutsch Heating in Taylor, MI. The owner's name is Art Grace. Tell him John Hall sent ya' (866-334-5418).
  • PC, you could always

buy a steam-heated house in Baltimore ;-) Seriously, if your local heating guys get stumped (do call Krutsch though, if John says they're good I believe him), you or they could hire me to make the trip North. I've done this many times, and with falling gas prices it might be an attractive option.
