Depends on a lot of other factors. Go to Robert Bean's website at www.healthyheating.com and try the human comfort calculator there- the sliding bars for all of the ambient conditions will give you an indication of how changing humidity levels, while everything else remains constant, will affect comfort.
I don't think buying another energy-using device to save fuel is the answer though. It starts with upgrading the house envelope - stop the heat losses at the source - caulk, seal, better windows, more insulation, etc. Money spent on the envelope provides on-going energy savings and increased comfort.

Humidifier
Does a humidifier really make your home feel 4-5 degrees warmer in the winter time? I am thinking of having one installed and knowing the price of NG going up this winter...it seems to be the perfect time for it.
