Gentlemen,
I have been hearing alot of talk about a pending code changes requiring hard wired CO detectors for new boiler/furnace installations in our fare State of MA. Any truth to these???

I just attended the Gasnetworks conference Brad Wong said it was effective on Sept 12 There are several new rules in Mass better study them carefully

emergency code change
It is in effect as of end of July (retroactively).
Any equipment that has a mechanical vent that exits the side of the house below 4 feet above grade must:
1) have a CO detector in the same room as equipment that is wired into the power circuit for the equipment and have a battery backup
2)have a CO detector outside every bedroom area
3)have a sign on the outside of the house, 4ft. above vent that says Gas Vent Directly Below.
If the vent exits 4 feet above grade or higher the CO detector in the equipment room can just be battery operated but doesn't have to be part of the main power circuit.0
