I am just grateful to have the opportunity to help in a small way and to Tim Doran from Wirsbo who initiated the idea for the fundraiser (it is a worthy cause close to home for his circle of friends) - he really deserves all the credit for his leadership.
As Tim, Dan and John have said in the past...we make a difference when we choose to...and I believe all of you will choose to support this great event.
See you soon!

This is from my friend, Jim Walls.
It was a private E-mail, but I'm posting it here with his permission, and because it is beautiful.
My hope is that you will read this and take part in the event that we're having on October 5 in Natick, MA. The details are in the Upcoming Seminars section.
Jim just lost his wife, Kim, to breast cancer. She was a very young woman. His letter:
Dan,
Thank you for being such a good friend, she cried with joy at the outpouring of support in Minnesota, Im sure she will be smiling down on you on October 5th.
Her sisters & mother still want to celebrate her birthday on Wednesday September 21st; it is amazing how something can make you feel such high & low emotions all at the same time.
Her brother & I spent this past weekend in Cincinnati, original plan was to attend Reds games Saturday night & Sunday afternoon, I spent the entire game Saturday night starring (we were in the lower right field bleachers) into the upper left field bleacher section where she & I sat with our young niece & nephew last summer. All I could see was her smile and how relaxing that beautiful evening was; from that vantage point you can also watch the boat traffic move up & down the Ohio River as well as view Northern Kentucky. It was a grand time, just like a trip to the ballpark is supposed to be, the Reds beat the Pirates with a hit in the bottom of the 8th the weather was perfect, the view was great and the kids had a blast.
The thing is, this time the reds beat the Pirates again & the weather was perfect, but I was restless, either starring into the left field bleachers, walking around, or up in the restaurant watching football games on television.
I dreamt about her Saturday night, & I thank God for that vision.
The trip was actually more for her brother than me, he does not get out of town much, and really needed to get away, so I did not tell him these things, I did not want to spoil his good time & he did enjoy himself although I know he could sense where my mind was.
We opted to drive too Maysville Kentucky along the Ohio River on Sunday instead of going to the game.
Well enough of that thank you for giving me an outlet.
Please thank Robert Bean & John Barba for me also, it is a beautiful thing you 3 are doing. Also thank anyone else who is involved or make contributions to this worthy cause. Kim & I are proof positive that this can happen to any of us and at anytime. Modern medicine has made great strides but the only guarantee would be if we can find a way to prevent it because we cannot always cure it, even if detected early.
My greatest wish is that no one else would ever have to suffer the pain she went through or the loss I now feel.
If there is anything I can do to help, please let me know
God Bless you

A memory hug
Thank you for caring and for sharing. It warms the heart to hear his wife comes into Jim's dreams but I wish the story had been different.
I attach a picture of the Cincinnati baseball stadium with the river flowing and a boat going under the Roebling suspension bridge.

Loss
Dan,
As you know , I lost my wife my partner and childhood sweetheart, Millie, at the tender young age of 29 to ovarian cancer after a three year battle, and I personally want to offer any and all assistance to Jim and his family that I can be .
My heart goes out to Jim , for I know what it is to lose your partner in life to this horrid disease.
My thoughts and prayers are with him and his family at this sorrowful time .

How to Help?
Dan,
I can't make the event, but what can we do to help otherwise? You know how I feel about these things...and my sister-in-law was just diagnosed w/ two forms of breast cancer.
Please let me know via e-mail. I haven't been hanging out at The Wall too much lately...new job and Round 2 for Kathleen.
Thanks.
Take Care, PJO0 -

October 5th Avon Walk
Dan
In recognition of you, Robert Bean, & John Barba donating your time, I will sponsor 3 people to attend this great event. If you can let me know where to send it, I will put a check in the mail for $300.00. I do not care how this is presented or what selection process is used to determine who those 3 attendees would be. Whether it is a raffle, the next 3 to sign up, I'm open and receptive to any ideas.
I'm attaching some pictures, at first I was hesitant to do so, but I promised her that as long as I walk this earth people will know who she was , what she stood for, and would continue the fight. I will do anything to fight this crap!
The attachments are pictures taken within the last year, maybe this can get the point across how devastating this disease can be.
The first one was taken on August 29th 2004 (our 17th anniversary) on Lake Erie
The second one was at Disney World June 2004
The 3rd one was Easter 2005, decorating eggs with our neice & nephews.
The last one was 2 years ago at the Cincinnati Conservatory with our neice & nephews.
It can strike anyone, anywhere, anytime & it has no mercy and no rule book,
Thank you Dan,Robert, & John for all that you are doing

I am so sorry to hear this news about Kim. My thoughts and prayers are with Jim and their family. I recently registered for the 2006 Avon Walk for Breast Cancer in Washington, DC which will be our third year of walking and fundraising. Thanks to everyone on The Wall for your continued support for this cause.
