steam convector

I'm currently sizing a steam job that is a one pipe steam convector system. The only writing I could find on the convectors is on a special fitting that says Simplexconvectorfin. I could not find this in Dan's EDR book for sizing so I plan on just using something close in size to size the boiler. My question is that will this be ok and is there a preference on boiler manufacture or near boiler piping when the system has convectors? Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance

  • That should work fine

The boiler selection doesn't depend on the type of radiation, use the same sizing procedure as for cast-iron. Near-boiler piping should be done to the manufacturer's specs, as always. Be sure you have properly-sized main vents too. If you aren't sure, measure the length and diameter of each steam main and we can tell you what's needed.
