Corn Boilers

One of my employees has a friend that bought a used corn boiler last year and heated his old farm house with some spoiled seed corn that he picked up for $200. I am going to go and meet this person and find out if the corn is dried, wet etc. In my area corn is the main crop that is grown and it could make a lot of farmers very happy.

I was wondering what expierence others have had with corn boilers. We have been receiving alot of calls and questions about them and I would like more imput from more than just manufactures of the boilers. Pros and cons? Seems like a similar set up to a wood boiler. Thanks

    There is a corn nut

    hanging around here somewhere :)

As with any unusual fueled appliance, actual performance numbers can get cloudy.

I don't believe there is an actual listing they can be tested to, yet.

My question has always been the availability of "burnable" corn. If it could be used with pellets also, that might make more sense.

Either way, I am encouraged by the possibilities. Smoke 'em if you've got 'em. Corn that is :)

  • My grand pappy had a corn boiler...

until the revenoors caught up with him. They smashed his corn boiler to smithereens...course, that was back in the 20's...1920's that is:-)
