In Mass vac breakers are on the inlet of the tank to protect the tank from a vaccum back flow devices protect the potable water supply

Do you put a vacuum breaker on the doestic hot water outlet of a storage tank like a Superstor? What is it and what is it for? Who makes them?

Just to clarify, not to break spheres. A vacuum breaker is used to protect potable water from backflow. A vacuum relief valve is (NJ Code) required if any hot water outlets are BELOW the water heating source. This is to prevent forming a vacuum in the vessel and having the reduced pressure cause the water to flash to steam. Steam can make a very loud sound when it explodes.0 -
