Just a reminder to everyone that this Sunday, September 11, marks the 4th Anniversary of the terrorist attacks on the United States. While my full-time occupation is that of a licensed Plumbing & heating contractor, I am proud to say I have been a volunteer fireman for over 28 years, currently serving as Assistant Fire Chief. There is a strong brotherhood among firefighters, paid and volunteer, and I hope everyone out there takes some time on Sunday to remember all those who died on Sept. 11, 2001. It is extremely important for the American people to NEVER forget the events of that day. We all get so involved with our daily lives that we have a tendency to let the memory of such things diminish over time. This post is to make sure we don't let that happen. God bless all of you and God bless America. 343-Never Forget.

    Don't worry WP

Fire dep'ts & police have gotten a lot of long-deserved respect since that day.

ALL our local guys (and girls) are volunteers with no pay whatsoever. We all know who they are, and they have the biggest extended family that anyone could ever ask for. They are loved & repected by all of us.

BTW, I now live in the tiny community of Indian Village, close to Kinder and Elton, the historic and ancestral home of the Coushatta Indians. (I have an actual "Indian Mound" right in my back yard. I'm drifting here, my point is: our local "protectors" are considered Family & neighbours, not "the enemy".

When 9-11 happened, our Gov' sent the first new fire truck to the wonderful New York, then the favour was immediately returned last week, when New York sent many, many, many men, women & equipment to help the folk "down here". Thank you all.

Hillary said, famously, "that it takes a Village to raise a child". The south, is now the "child" and the village of 272 million people is the USA.

It feels good to belong to this village.

    Brian, in Indian Vilage.
