A new scam

I'm sure everyone with email has received, at least once, one of the Nigerian scam emails. You know, the one that says someone in my family has died and I need your help getting an almost obscene amount of money out of their country, for a mere pittance from you checking account?

I received one today. Over my fax machine. They asked me to contact them over my email....

I round-filed it.

Got a new one last week

This one claimed to be from England and said I had won $8,000,000 in the lottery that I had entered. Trouble is, I hadn't entered any lottery in England or anywhere else for that matter.

    You mean...

You mean I didn't win $12,000,000.00 in the multicountry lottery?

I knew it was too good to be true, especially since it would only cost me $750.00 in legal and processing fees to claim the international prize.

    Damn!
  • My elderly Mother

got a phone call from "Canadian Customs" saying that she had won $800,000 and all she had to do was pay the $2,000 in taxes. She's had plenty of those, but the most recent one called a local taxi company to come pick her up, take her to the bank to get the cashier's check and then drive her to Western Union so she could wire the money.

Luckily, my wife was there when the taxi company showed up. She asked them who called the taxi and the dispatcher said the guy that telephoned from Canada called himself her son.

    Also tried to hit us

We had Sprint contact us by phone and they had a customer from Nigeria talking to Sprint via internet. They want to buy $5000-8000 worth of Delta and Moen with a credit card #. We almost got caught, hook line and sinker till we heard someone else here had the same call and got cut off. Come to find out they have been traced by the FBI and I guess CIA for the past month , hitting all the supply houses they can. Lucky we didn't completely fall for their trap, but very close. So keep your eyes and ears open for scams.

    Too bad.....

There isn't a way to track these furballs down and prosecute them to the fullest extent that the law allows.

Oh , Wait.....THERE is! It starts with good people providing the essential information to the proper authorities, but more importantly....the PROPER AUTHORITIES PROSECUTING THESE scumbags and shutting them down to the point of incarceration and confiscating ALL monies. (it's been used for years and it works!!!!) If they have no money to pay the defenders with, they won't be able to get anyone to save their a$$es.

Just like the field we work in, the only way to stop the thieves is to hit them in the wallet and make it stick. JMHO...Chris
