STEAM TO HOT WATER

One of the biggest problems on this type of conversion is the fact that hot-water runs with at least ten times the pressure of steam. This will find any weak spot that exists in pipes and radiators, causing leaks and damage to the building. I've seen jobs where this has happened and it's not pretty.

Then there's the question of whether the radiators will even work with hot-water, and if so, will they be big enough to heat the building with their output capability reduced from 240 BTU per square foot EDR to 150 BTU or so.

I've found it's much more cost-effective and much less risky to fix steam systems instead of trying to convert them. If you don't have much experience with steam, you've come to the right place!
