So, now I know what the definition of "rusty coat hanger abortion" is.
Looks like "lowest bidder" got his money and ran.

Are you guys sick of seeing steam jobs to fix up? Here's more if you like...0 -
Curious
to see how long that system would last being piped in copper. I don't see a return let alone a Hartford loop.
Is the system operational, i.e. does it work or are there problems with it?

how not to do it
man, that is one busy system. probably works great !! lol ignorance is bliss & sometimes steam can be so forgiving but never to me !!0 -
The only way that has a chance of working
ia if the 4-foot or so riser to the header is enough to keep water from carrying over. It sure won't enter the equalizer thru that reducer tee!All Steamed Up, Inc.

Hey, I put that job in! What's so bad about it?.........................................:)
What a mess.0 -
Gotta love it.
I really like the TFE (roll out switch) hanging on the side there. I also really like the solder job where the make up water meets the return, and yeah, It probably does work great.

No after pics yet... it'll be in the works soon. I'll post later. The guy wants to know why he has to feed his boiler every few days then its overfilled later on.0 -
How did they get those two male adapters and tee into the existing header. Are those fittings just butted together without using any copper pipe in the socket of each fitting?
Probably would have paid to watch that.

the station wagon guys
I gaurantee you they used a jack & just spread 'em apart. i have seen guys like that in action. ultra dangererous. never any insuance of any kind. hit & run , one shot deal guys. accept cash only. ruins the industry. they either beat any price or completely rob the customer. their price ranges from $100.00 to a million. lol0 -
I am a carpenter so forgive my Q. Is using copper pipe off a steam boiler a bad idea? If so, why?0
