This is a post that I hope is easily searched for the future. After much looking, I can tell homeowners with steam heat how to get the best insulation for your pipes. Per the experts on this site, you need 1-inch formed fiberglas pipe insulation for your basement pipes and any wall files that are accessible.

Go to the following links, call their customer service number, tell them you are a contractor, and ask for their distributor that is closest to your home:

Pricing that I found, for 3-foot sections, sold by the foot are:

1-inch: $1.34
1.5-inch: $1.60
2-inch: $1.69
2.5-inch: $1.97
3-inch: $2.19

Good luck!

Steve
