Steam tappings?
sandy
Member Posts: 4
I'm going to replace a Weil-McLain steam boiler, with either the same SGO-3, or a peerless. The existing feed is only two inches and the weil's tappings are 2 1/2. I heard you can't bush down steam lines. Is this true? Or can I use a 2 by 2 1/2 bullhead?

First build a header, equalizer and Hartford Loop
according to the piping diagram that comes with the boiler. Then take your steam mains off the header.

steam tapping
First and foremost, use a Weil !!!!
Secondly, I agree with steamhead..never reduce the tapping size. Build a 2 1/2" header and equalizer per instructions and then go to your 2" piping, between the last riser and the equalizer. Weil provides very easy to follow piping diagrams with all their boilers.
