Thanks for your support. I am looking forward to hearing the energy savings the homeowner is going to experience. I believe his neighbors will be jealous.

Monitor Boiler/Radiant Installation
Thought you might enjoy seeing the connections to our latest installation using Monitor's MZ40 Boiler.0 -
Monitor
Is that cpvc pipe on your returns? I haven't seen that in years. What state is that in?0 -

Clean
I do so enjoy seeing this.
The MZ boiler is a pioneer in condensing boiler technology in the US. the people who work for MPI represent the very best of what a boiler Mfg. importer can do.
This mechanical room looks very nicely done but, I can't understand the need for all of those superfluous zoning circulators draining electricity. There will always be points taken off for electrical consumption. I don't mean to criticize as this installation as it stands may seem to be at or near top gun status here. I'm also curious as to the glued distribution piping system. This looks like CPVC or is it another? Does it have an oxygen barrier as I see no heat exchanger.
The gas piping should have dropped down from the left side near the front of the MZ's gas connection (left side). This would have left more room in front of all the other connections. I've made this mistake before. You never know when you might need to adjust/remove the angle turndown elbows on an MZ.
Neat & very nicely exicuted.
Perhaps outdoor reset & integrated modulation control is on the way for MPI's lineup in the future.

Talk to us about the CPVC ....what is going on with that...
did the owners determine that sheetrock or some sort or sheathing on the walls was a waste of money?0 -
Nice pipe fitting work...
However, and there's always one however in every crowd, that appears to be a Triangle TUbe tank within a tank design, no? If in fact it is, your tank warranty is null and void due to the use of a non oxygen barrier pipe (CPVC) in the piping circuits. The outer shell of the tank in a tank design uses a mild steel tank. Mild steel and 02 = disolving tank, hence no warranty.
A person could try and maintain a real high pH on the system (above 8.5), but if it ever got out of control, the o2 would eat your lunch, and the tank. Why take chances with non maintenance. Replace the CPVC with PAP and be done with the o2 issue completely.
We all make this mistake at least once in our careers.
Tell us mre about your modular radiant floor heating system. Has it been tested by any particular agency as it pertains to btu/h/sq ft output? Has it been through the code approval process yet? How long has it been around, and how many units are in service in the field?

Look Again
Look again, Mark - that is an MPI tank which is stainless steel. Nonetheless I agree with you on the CPVC. Is CPVC rated for use in a hydronic system? -DF

It looks just like the TT tank...
but whadoiknow...There ae obviously other ferrous components in the system that will be affected by the o2.
CPVC is rated up to 180 degrees F at 100 PSI if my mamories serve me correctly...
Who makes the MPI tank? How's it constructed?
GOod to see you in Denver Dan, wish we'd had more time to chat.

MPI
MPI = Monitor products = Pete Caruso. He can tell you everything you want to know about these. We have about a dozen of these with no problems. There are all stainless steel (tank and coil) with a large coil surface area for quick recovery.
Good to see you in Denver as well. I'm sure we will cross paths again soon. -DF

Good advise Gary...
The use of less fittings and less pipe on the gas pipe really is an important consideration. the asthetics of it are clean though, as it shows square and straight .0 -
I'm just a humble homeowner and no doubt mistaken, but is that expansion tank on the supply side?0
