Hot water boiler
Bob_56
Member Posts: 1
I had to drain my boiler system this past summer to install a new valve that was leaking. I lost about 3-4 gallons of water from the system during this replacement. Can I just turn the water back on to fill the system up, or do I need to bleed air from the system somewhere?
Thanks for any help.

refilling system
You didn't say what kind of system you have, but assuming it's forced hot water, yes, you will have to bleed out the air, if you left the zone piping loops open. If you had isolation valves, the high vent on the air scoop usually gets the air out. You will have to purge the zones to make sure all the air is out. Good purging is important, and if you don't knwo how, call in a pro. He should purge it and then show you how...it's not all that difficult...once you kwno how.
