    An "amateur" may also be an "expert" but just does not charge for his services and therefore is not a "professional" and thus cannot be "hired" without changing his moniker.

    A "professional" does not necessarily make someone an "expert" - it just means they do whatever they do for money (whether they are any good at it or not)

    Therefore, to be correct, "If you think hiring an expert is expensive, try hiring a non-expert."
