fire it up, pull up a chair, watch it go for a full run cycle, see if the water surges and trips the switch calling the feeder to feed..i've seen so many #67's flood boilers its not even funny..i refuse to use the 101 feeder any more..i use the vxt hydrolevel for two reasons, one it has a delay feature, and two- it will lockout after 10 straight gallons is called for..but i'd check it to see if it surges and trips the switch first..and when your doing this test start the water at the point where the feeder will normally keep the boiler at..cause you know thats where it will end up operating at..the janitor never will keep it half/two thirds up the glass..

3 story apartment building
I installed an EGH-105 (450,000 input)on Dec 23 2005, in a 3 story small apartment building. One pipe steam with old cast iron radiators. Typical 3" mains with plenty of asbestos insulation. The trim pack came with a Model 67 Float LWCO, and the exsisting piping had a 101-A-24. Previous contractor had it powered off the boiler xformer. I installed a 75VA xformer , replaced the feeder with identical, and wired the 67 and 101 like the manual showed.
The thermostat is in a utility room in the basement. Everything was fine for a week or so, and then no heat. I went back and the boiler was short cycling and the sight glass was full of water. When I do a blow-down to remove some water, the 67 kicks in the feeder, and my water is still over the sight glass. I turned off the water supply to the feeder and drained water till I could get it half way up the sight glass. This worked, but I checked back a week later and its still running and keeping temp, but the level is over the glass again. What do guys think?? Help, please.0
