Is there supposed to be a rattling noise from within the housing? sounds like a loose ball or float; it's occurring on 3 brand new circulators.

    taco rattle

Have the same problem with one of the new load match circs...couldn't get a new one or a cartridge. Seems the cartridge from a 003 fits those pumps, so in it goes....same noise !!!!! So unusual for TACO..what gives???

nb, thanks for the heads up. A noisy circ can be caused by a number of things. Could be system related, could be just a bad cartridge. Can you help provide some details such as model number, date code, type of application , open or closed system, flow/head conditions, etc.? Thanks

    taco 00 series

Taco manufactures quality products and the probability for three circulators having similar noise issues is very low. My responsibility as a support technician is to evaluate and help diagnose system problems using Taco products. Unfortunately I'm at a disadvantage where I'm not familiar with the system dynamics, or if this is a new install. My suspicion is the system is problematic with air and the noise you are hearing is aeration. Before changing the pumps out please try repurging the system methodically one zone at a time, using a higher pressure when purging forcing the residual air out. Please let me know if you are successful.

    taco rattles

Tried to call and explain but your voice mail system is too short a time to talk and give all the info.
We have a 28 zone load match system. This is a pump that feeds a small Modine heater. It is the last one we installed and it rattles. The circs are the LO series and we installed a cartridge from a 003B pump and it still rattles. We did find the IFC missing out of the pump but I fail to see how that would change much, or would it?
Great system but you have to get those pumps into production...could use them on another job but can't wait 8 weeks like we did the last time.

The circulators are still in the box unused. 2 of them are 005-zf2-ifc, the other is a 007-zf5-ifc. The rattling comes directly from inside the impeller housing or cartridge as it may be called. When I received the circulators I seperated the motor housing from the body and removed the impeller cartridge. a very light shake of the cartridge was all it took to reveal the rattling noise.
It did not appear possible to easily take apart the impeller cartridge; I must say that I was very tempted to do so, Warrenty isues kept me sane.
Joe, at Taco, I may call you on this and discuss further.
The only information on the cartridge itself appears to be a date 1205.

The IFC can cause the rattle

I did receive your voicemail message, and forwarded it to Brett Zerba the design engineer for load match at Taco. I thought it would be a great idea for you guy's to get to know each other. It's all about who you know...right? Anyway, if the IFC broke down it would cause the rattling sound you are experiencing, and in some cases the sound could be amplified and resonate through out the system. Additionally the standard replacement cartridge for the 003 will not be the correct replacement for your Load Match pump. Can you provide the load match pump catalog number?

    Anti corrosion pills in cartridge

The rattling you are referring too, is the anti corrosion pills Taco puts in the cartridge to prevent corrosion when the pumps are sitting in the wholesalers warehouse.
