    I have seen that hell

This is a job where the original builder packs up and leaves the state another builder takes over and somewhere in between this mess is our in slab tubing originally pressure tested with air but due to a leaking packing nut on the test manifold was tested with water the day before the pour. Fast forward from end of may to the end of october and the result slab had froze and pex tubing compromised. Thanks to the "leak pro" tool, I found 8 out of 9 leaks. The last leak being so slow that I could not hear it even with 110psi in the line. We are going to get the Hercules product Base Hit II that is supposed to seal leaks in radiant tubing. Free lesson to all, never ever test any system with water. You never know when you will be back. Good intentions have paved the road to hell!!!! Take a look. I finished all the repairs today but did not have my camera. I will take a breather for a few days and head up to Buderus for a class and enjoy some visit time with fellow wallies especially my bro Mad Dog.

    Forward March, Darin

    Darin, Code requires it here.

But I don't do hydrostatic testing. As you said, we have no control over when the structure will be closed in and ready to heat. I air test, and noone has called me on it. I think it's one of those things that they realize is a bad idea after it's on paper. Kevin

    O.K. You guys....

I'll admit to being out of line...IF YOU 2 STOP ACTING LIKE YOU'RE MARRIED!!!! Sorry if I hurt you Mark.

Sorry Mark, I won't be able to join you,Darin and Mad Dog for a few adult beverages on Thursday. Milne is away on vacation (yet again..) and I can't get out of the loop as far as he will be...so I guess I'll be the "go to" guy until he gets back. Wish I could. Chris

My heart goes out to you

I been there and done that. Gut wrenching. After finding and fixxing 5 leaks we decided to tear up the concrete ad re-do it all. My first and only insurance claim in 18 years of being in busness. So...how many out there really want to own their own business????? It's not all fun and games (and pretty women admiring your hvac skills. Hey, where's my cape?). :P WW

    I hear ya, bud

Sometimes you just have to give some blood! People just didn't know how to take me not skipping out of town. What? You are going to fix it? It was a lonesome task but I did it.

    It bursts real good

And I have some photos from two large scale radiant slab projects locally where it happened on a grand scale. Costs of over a million $ incurred to repair the spalled concrete and find all the leaks, not to mention the delays and disruption to the construction schedule. And the two projects had different brands of PEX tubing to boot, so it wan't a product related issue. Just plain old laws of physics in action.
