richard said on the last episode that three contractors were used on the project. I think they must have been part of his heating association and he is giving them some recognition.
Even if he didnt use a Viessman he could have used a different type of mod con boiler to help show home owners what is out there for high efficiency heating.

    What did Richard use?

Couldn't ID the boiler he put in the current project. Looked like just your generic 80% natural draft. Doesn't sound like him not to use the most exotic thing he can get!

    boiler

saw the episode and it was a crown boiler atmosperically vented. I was suprised also the whole house was radiant and had snow melt i was expecting to see a vitoden or two.
I dont know if this is true but some one told me the cast iron castings made for crown are made by viessman. The job must have gone over budget and they had to cut a few corners.

    Thank you

With all that using the boiler, especially the snow melt, sure expected better than the lowest efficiency!

the producers of TOH have had complaints from other boiler manufacturers (who must pay for advertising) to show other boilers being installed.

    The power of tv

Rich and TOH has done a lot for our industry,he made homeowners very aware radiant heat.
If they spend more time devoted to energy awarness, building envelop, heat loss calcs.,products and installation techniques on the next project/s , I bet more homeowners would start to get it, and not be so infatuated with granite counters instead, but begin to invest in their homes efficiency.

    Crown

seems to be the second choice for a lot of Viessmann contractors that I know :) They have a fine line up of equipment and excellent support, from my experience. I've been a fan of their CABO sealed combustion model.,

Crown was displaying several aluminum block Mod-Con boilers at the AHR show. The small ones look to be from the same mold as the Weil Ultra block manufacture.

Crown looks to be the only manufacture insisting on AL29 stainless for the venting on their Mo-Co's. They may be on to something there.

I don't think Crown is part of Burnham however??

I was told that they are a part of the same company that owns Burnham, by a supplier who reps Crown.

Everything I see shows it to be a good boiler and full line.

What does this part of that press release mean?:

"Generally, Crown services a different customer base than other subsidiaries in the group and is strategic to the long-term growth of Burnham Holdings, Inc."

If Crown is in Philly and Burnham in Lancaster and they both make boilers, where is the difference in the customer base?
