Advice on new 5sect steam boiler

I've been quite impressed with thier performance on my recent installs. They are quite easy to clean up and tend to produce bone dry steam before it even reaches the header, especially in the size you are looking at. Only a single 2 1/2 inch tapping needs to be piped. The special skimmer trough also seems to really work at getting the boiler clean.
Also no rubber O rings, which seem to fail very often in my area.

Got a customer looking for a replacement steam boiler in her building. One pipe system with a 500 sqft steam load based on radiation, no DHW needs. Just wondering about preferences and if I should put on a mechanical low water cutoff and feeder or leave the electronic LWCO.? Any advice would be much appreciated. Thx

Why not try the Weil-McLain EG-55, it offers 521 sq. ft. steam. You do not need a second LWCO for such a tiny boiler (200,000 input). I'd use the probe type that comes with the packaged unit. I would also stay away from a feeder as well. I find feeders crack more boilers, so I would address where the water is being lost first. You should be checking the water level periodically and flushing it down anyway, using the feeders only makes people to forget to check on them. If you do use a feeder, why not choose one with a built in water meter.

Thanks for the reply, I was originally looking at a Smith or Burnham but I will check the W/M now. At present the tenant does have to manually feed the boiler and does do a blow down so you're probably right in keeping it a manual feed.

Peerless is a great steam boiler too. Plus it don't use the rubber O-rings.

The Burnham V85 is rated for 512 sq ft. That would put you almost dead on for your connected load.
