is Oil hotter than Natural Gas?

Dual fuel, #2 oil and natural gas
7 triad boilers - 7 million input
Piped correctly - unknown connected load, system pressure is 7psi (bad original design - 100 years old - etc).
System takes a long time to come up to pressure and while firing on oil the water line surges until the boiler trips on low water. Random boilers. the boilers fill fine.
On gas the water line bounces very little.
What gives?

Dave, i would check the nozzle sizes (140,000/gal) and clock the gas meter and compare. bob0 -
#1 get out your digital analyzer--for oil you cant go by nozzle size --amount is controlled by a "metering valve" & pressure--its a little more involved on the oil side to verify input -- gas you can clock the gas meter //--What burner is on the unit --some Manufacturers' burners are better on one fuel compared to the other and alot of techs are better setting up one fuel than the other --some will favor the most used fuel --the flames are set-up individualy --these are modulating burners so you have to test at many different positions -start-up on this type of equipment requires considerable time -and most do not get the alloted amount of time to do it correctly good luck0 -
sounds like overfired on oil for sure ...
don't forget ...
nothing makes Steam ....like Oil0
