noise in pipes

Since it happens only every few hours, and then stops, it's most likely trapped water laying in the pipe between cycles. A good heating pro should be able to solve that for the building so that you can get some rest.
Retired and loving it.

noise in pipes
I have a question. We have steam heating in my apartment building. Every couple of hours I hear a series of clicking, popping, "dud" sounds in this one pipe. It makes the sound for a second and then does it again a minute later and so on. It can be a real pain. Anyone know exactly what is causing that sound? Any way to make it stop? Usually heating sounds don't bother me at all but this one is irritating. Any help, advice would be greatly appreciated? Thanks.
