Is this considered short cycling?

Since insulating very well, My HW system fires for 10-15 minutes comming off a setback, then just 5 minutes or so to keep temp every 15 minutes or so. My gas bill dropped since fixing circulation problems, pumping away & insulating including the near boiler piping. I also have a 10* or so delta t. Outdoor reset by next winter.

Just a guy running some pipes.

    Is this considered short cycling?

I have a one pipe steam system, 8 radiators total. My old oil burner was recently serviced. The blast tube and injector nozzles were replaced. Now, the furnace will run fine for an hour, but not get up to temp. Then it will shut off for 5 minutes, and run again for 20. Again, shut off for 5 then run for 20. Continues until gets to temp. Is this considered short cycling?
Never did this before the repair. Pipes are insulated, new vents on all radiators and mains, cut in is .5, cut out is 2 psi. Not sure if pigtail was cleaned during yearly cleaning, but pressure gauge did not work until boiler cleaned and repaired.

    What should I do next?

    Thanx

    short cycling

I'm not that familiar with steam but 20 minutes running doesn't seem like short cycling to me. From what I understand, short cycling would be more like 45 seconds running then shut off for 30 seconds.

Are you getting heat to your radiators?

my boiler runs for about 5 minutes at a time then demand is usually meet or it may fire a second time for another 3 minutes or so. Is this short cycling? Water boiler.

Yes, heat does get to the radiators. In the evening, my system turns on and my house goes from 57 degrees to 69, then the boiler turns off. 5 minutes later, it starts again and goes for 20 or 30 minutes. Keeps doing this until the temp reaches 64 degrees.

    Thanx

It sounds to me like everything is working as it should.
I would bet your pig tail was previously clogged. That is an awfully large set back to ask of a one pipe steam system. I would question how much fuel it is really saving you? I am of the opinion that with steam the setbacks should never exceed 5 degrees.
