We have a new customer who is having problems w/ their boiler . a 3 year old burnham indpendance failed, do to a crack in the casting near the riser. we replace the boiler w/ the same product ( under warranty, thank you burnham)now the customer is complaining that the system is not heating. The tech started investagating and noticed that none of the radaitors have vents? I'll be looking at it tommorow. but I have a feeling that its not going a standard 1 pipe system. What are the signs of the different
systems.
Thanks T

It's probably Vapor
the air is routed thru a dry return to a central vent in the basement. The rads may or may not have traps. Take some pics of the boiler area and a few rads and post them, we should be able to ID the system that way.

I agree
Hi Gerry,
I think you are on the right track. It all starts with a clean boiler. Worked before installation, doesn't work after. If all things correct (near boiler piping, waterline position, etc.) then make sure the water is clean.

Oil
Clean means skimming all the oil. The water can appear clean but if it's got a layer of surface oil on it from the threading, etc, it will behave in the manney you describe...
