on running the romex tightly along the run of pex, I doubt you will ever have an issue.

Even with 180 supply, the outside of the pex, in the space, will not be 180.

If you plan on running much above that, you are probably beyond the temperature rating on most pex.

Also keep in mind the air in that joist space does not get to the supply, or even the outside wall temperature of the pex.

If so steam and hot water baseboard systems would have shown romex problems by now. Plenty of those pipes run in joist bays. I've seen plenty of HW BB systems running 200 and above tempertures. Metallic pipe gets a lot hotter on the OD than plastic.

You could always add an additional strap on aquastat to ther boiler supply piping to prevent over temperature conditions.

    Romex and Ultra Fin

A few day's ago I asked how 180 degree temps from the Ultra Fin would effect the Romex wire in the joist bays.

Romex is rated to handle 90* celcius ambiant temp. That converts to 194* fahrenheit. I realize that you can run the water temps lower than 180* but it seems a little to close to the tolerance for my liking at 180*

    It is understandable...

your dis comfort w/ the temp....probably then the best thing to do is wrk w/ the electrician at locating wires out of the top 1/2 of the floor joist bay. Some places will alow you to run wires between straping ...kpc
