i have in huge and small homes had tremendous success in working the system in ounces of pressure rather than pounds.
Last 35 unit bldg saw 30% reduction in steam bill.
But they were cranked up 2 high when i first got there.
I incorporated a 1 pipe steam Tekmar controller and a vaporstat. THey were in heaven. Weather responsive and quiet.

vaporstat contoller
I have had a few heating pros prepare estimates for my soon to be installed gas steam boiler in a one-pipe residential system.
One of the estimates included substituting a vaporstat controller instead of a pressuretrol. Is there any downside with this, other than the increased purchase cost of a vaporstat?
