takagi hot h2o heaters

The trick here is to mitigate the chance of the heater condensating in the combustion chanber. I.E. to much cold water flow. The light weight combustion chanber will rot our quickly if the input water is fast enough to cause condensation in the chanber. To prevent this a flow control valve can be installed to lock the flow at a proper flow rate. Of course that rate has to be enginerred such that it fits the radiant needs. It may be that a buffer tank would be helpful. Also, keep some fresh diaphrams for the control in stock!

Reading the units lit. it seem's to be a good option, just would like some imput to any one out there who has installed and had exp. with these unit's. I have checked locally and no one can give me any input, sid harvey in portland has just started reping them.

    water heater

is not a boiler , the units are not made to run radiant floor heating alone , they must be used in combo system and open loop design , take a look at the Baxi unit for the garage its not condensing and will not require a drain for condensate .

    Just looked at

a job that someone tried to use a tankless for heating. It didn't work well. Nothing but a nightmare. Bring in the clown/Lawyers. It's not made to handle it as far as I know. Not worth the headache. WW

    Takagi heaters

are the new kid on the block, I am going to take a course on them on Feb. 22. That is not to say they are a new product as my sister had one installed in her home in Kansas about 10 years ago, hers is for potable water only.

In my opinion if you are looking for a cheap heater to supply radiant, you might as well use any tankless type water unit. They can all be adapted for heating use.

I know some of you guys are going to freak at this comment, but I have adapted all types of equipment to do things the manufacturers don't have in their installation manuals.

Now don't go ape, I never do anything that would compromise the customers safety, or cause myself liability (the word is one of the most abused in the dictionary).

There was an error rendering this rich post.

    On the web site....

Takagi does have piping senario's for dom./heating and heating only. This brand is new to me also, Co. history is they started in 1946, and have been very popular in the so.cal. area.

I am not looking for a cheap unit but more battle tested with great cust. satisfaction. takagi.com seem's to give me a good product and was seeing if in the new england area, people had any exposure to these unit's.

Where they are just coming out up our way, I think I will give this unit a try. The water heater's seem to have done well west of the miss. Thank's dennis and let me know your opinion after your class.
