Well this week marks a new record. I had not one but two former potential clients come in and ask me to un-do what their budget contractor did wrong. I gave both of these people bids and they went with the "low baller".

Oh well. I am happy to help!

    Ya gotta tell em this

I always tell people, and when we did written estimates (no longer), on the bottom was printed BY HAND in large letters:

"WE GLADLY FIX ALL "LOW BIDDER" WORK.

We are going to do that Jan 1, 2007 Dan. We had to spend this years advertising on some other obligations. If nothing else just to support this site. Thanks for what you do for us Dan!

    advertising budget??

Josh, you will learn that if you are good at what you do, which I think you are. You will not need that budget anymore. Good luck and see you on the 11th. Tim

    Good for you, Josh....

Sometimes things go your way. Those who are consistently the low ballers... I honestly don't know how they keep going; they must eat beans 3 times a day.

We have 2 outfits around here, who ALWAYS are the lowest. They are consistently overbooked, overstressed, behind on their jobs and behind on their bills. A bunch of my ex-customers have used them, and most continue to do so. I can only guess that price is so important to them that they will put up with a lot of baloney for a cheap job.

Hey, I have to give your people credit for coming back to you. I guess that people really can learn from their mistakes!

    Class Act

You are a class act, Josh. No hint of gloating, none at all. A minor dividend for the aggravation of losing out to the low bidders once before.

Nothing wrong with being a low bidder so long as the quality is there but you know and accept this. It is the low-ball bid with reduced quality below value that hurts.

Well deserved and now some owners who see the contrast can spread the word to others...

    Cheers!

    Brad

Once you get them back online, you should ask them for a letter that you can show future customers who aren't happy with the price.

    Atta Boy Josh

Had a good one like that myself over the last couple weeks. I'm going to be there for the next few weeks doing it over for the owners.

    low balling

You know its funny, but most of the really bad hack work I have seen were generally done with high end equipment at a very high cost. I guess these guys get them coming and going.:)
