Do I insist contractor redoes job?

I was not given a choice, I just expected to see iron there based on my conversation with the steam guy. I am paying $2,500 to my contractor for this part of the job. It was just a matter of re-installing two radiators within a foot of their original 1925 location and moving a third radiator that had been shifted 4 feet back to its original 1925 location. My original Webster 512 traps that I had just intalled new B and J cage units into were replace with more constrictive hoffman 17c traps. The contractor wants to seal up the floor in the next day or so and pour a wet bed floor over everything. I don't wand problems because 24" of piping was done in copper instead of iron.

Do I insist contractor redoes job?

I am having a bathroom renovation done. I had a steam guy out to look at the job and talked about how some work had been done on the vapor system using copper instead of iron. He agreed copper does not belong in a steam system. He has completed the work, but has piped the returns with copper. Do I insist he redoes these with iron?

If they are on the returns and you maintain your traps

it shouldn't be a problem because those lines should see only air and condensate. Is it the best way to go? No, but were you offered a choice on it? Although copper costs are high, doing things in copper is much faster. Perhaps he was trying to keep costs down for you? Mad Dog

copper piping should probably be covered in some kind of

insulating material so it doesn't contact cement. (HO here) Pros can tell you what kind. That's a side issue from your main question.
