Hey all, glad to see you folks are still here. I haven't been here in a couple of years.

Anyway, I've been noticing that the water pressure in my Emerald Series Columbia boiler has been running low and I've had to add a few lbs. of pressure. I've done this every few days for two weeks. I figured I had a tiny leak somewhere and didn't have time to get into it.

Last night, I noticed a small wet spot under the boiler. Uh oh. It doesn't seem to be from any of the fittings so I'm thinking it's might be the sections going bad.

If I'm not mistaken, this boiler is steel, not cast iron. It's only 11 years old. Even for steel, it's fairly young isn't it?

If it is the sections, is there any way to repair it?

I don't know if we're allowed to recommend product here, but if so, can anyone recommend a good quality, cast iron boiler that won't break the bank. I need one with a hot water coil too (I know, I hate them too, but I can't afford to get an indirect fired tank).

I'm in S.E. Pa. (Collegeville) if it matters.

    Thanks all.

    Boiler Leak

Adam, Sorry to hear of your issues. Are you currently under any service plans with your oil provider? If not, let me know. We are located in Pottstown (just a few miles away!) and boiler work is our specialty. Be glad to look at it for you.

    Thanks,

    Jeremy

More than likely its a bad extrol tank causing the relief valve to leak and the reducing valve isnt adding water by itself until you force it to
