Change the t-stat to a non-power stealing one.

runs ok till I leave ???

    Ok here is the scoop.
The system has a slant fin boiler Model#66225hxped .
the issue that I am having is short cycling. On a call for heat from the thermostat ,it calls the vent damper open, when the end switch(in the damper proving that its open)makes it sends power to the ignition control, lights the pilot ,but it takes almost a min to prove(this has the capiliary style thermocouple)so it finally fires then after 20 seconds it cycles off, then on again in 30 seconds.
I traced it back to a burnt out heat anticipator in the stat (existing a honeywell "round' heating only stat, replaced it with a electronic round ,sliding the jumpers in their respected place )so all is well, left the customers with the boiler on till I got the call in the morning ...no heat...ok went down there checked for voltage at the stat and found no 24 vac from the stat at the boiler as soon as I tested it ,it called for heat ?????all connections are good.....left site again boiler on
3 hours later another call boiler off,I asked the home owner to move the stat all the way to cold and then back up ,but there was no "click" from the switching inside.

    any ideas?
this boiler has been short cycling for years ,till I replaced the stat.

Is it normal to take so lonk for this style of gas valve to prove .
    white rodgers 360c84 type 254.
    thanks to all

Hiit sure seems that ,I got another call today ,went back down ,I tried turing the stat up and down ,but heard no click from the switching inside, when I jumpered the stat connections at the boiler terminal strip it worked fine(stat still connected )
the stat is a honeywell electronic round ,heat only CT87k,existing was a honeywell round ,bimetal non electronic.
