\"Old\" Plumbing Acces. Question.

I have had this old parts/tool book around for awhile, and I can`t for the life of me, figure out what these "leather- plungers" were used for. It`s under misc. accessories, any ideas? (Keep-it Clean now!)

used in old reciprocating pumps, either the old hand force pumps (not the more-common lift pumps) or power-driven versions.

leather plunger(s)

Water pump parts? Those don't look like the parts for the old piston pump, how about parts for the hand pumps that used to be in everyone's yard?

Foot valves...

... were/are the check valve used at the bottom of a well. Very useful for windmills! ;~)
