Ours is the same just like a flush cart but most systems we do are 15 ton and up so it requires larger pumps

    GEO pro tech question

Is there a pumping performance chart I could get my hands on for 1 1/4" plastic?

When you have multiple loops, how are you assured all your loops are completely purged?

Is it wise to isulate the piping heating to the loops? (heating and cooling system)

    Thanks,

    gary

    purge

You can check the flow rates by the delta P.

We use a large pump 40 gpm high head and a 50 gallon drum. Pipe the pump feed from drum bottom with 11/2 pvc then the pump outlet into the geo loop take the geo loop return and discharge 2/3 down into drum fill 1/2 way with water and antifreeze. Run pump till geo loop is air free then presurize system with same pump close valves and done. takes a bit to set up but very simple. This only will work if field is piped correctly reverse return header and 3 way ball valves before heatpump.

We use a flush cart that is designed to flush Geo loops.
I don't remember the flow rates required, but you have to get the water moving at certain rate and it will bring ALL the air out of the loop field. Our cart will do up to a five ton slinky. Anything larger than that, our loop installer flushes it. It also works GREAT for flushing and filling radiant systems!!!

The only part of the loop we insulate is through the foundation, under the slab and inside the home to the Geo unit.
