which main vents?

I need to know if I have the correct main vents for my steam heating system and if not, what are the recommendations: My system has two main vents, each #35, located on my two, 1" dry returns. Each dry return measures 22 feet in length, same as the mains, which are 2". I doubt the existing vents, which are quite dated, are effective and I thought updating them would be wise. One main has five radiators, the other has four.
Also, what do you recommend for insulation thickness on the mains, 1" or 2". Please advise. Thanks!

A Gorton #1
on each dry return should be fine. 1-inch-thick insulation also will be fine.
