Do a search for "WM Ultra heat exchanger plugs" . I went through the same thing this spring. There was a man at a Ferguson store that offered to help me. He has what you need.

    Leaking Ultra 155 plugs!

Anyone have advice? W/M says distributor should give replacement kit free, distributor says part # not even in system, useless local rep co doesn't even answer phone. Are they hard to get out? Any tips?
  • Which plugs,

are you talking about on your 155 Adam?

    Sorry.......

Sorry, the plugs on the cast aluminum block. The initial problem was corrected by W/M but many older models need to have the leaking plugs changed. It looks like they'll back out with a large sized Alan Wrench?

    W/M Ultra...

    Adam,

Where are you located...W/M is now using freeze plugs in their cast aluminium block so the leaking plug issue is no longer an issue...As for the local rep I would love to know who that is or at least which local you are in...I might be able to help with the no response...I also can get you a free plug kit if you need...let me know...

    Changing the plugs...

isn't a big job... I think they even send the alan wrench you need with the kit...just shut off the water to the boiler, drain the boiler, and replace the plug. The couple that I have done were no problme and the whole job took maybe 1/2 hour.
You had one offer for help here, you also can call WM's tech. line and my experience has been very positive with them, they will get you help...

    Block Plugs

The few I've changed out were UPSed to me quickly by the area rep. Try e-mail to tech support. They seem to respond quicker via e-mail than phone. I'm sure they'll ship from the factory.

The old plugs came out pretty easy but be careful not to crossthread the new ones. Work the replacements in and out like you are tapping threads if there is resistance. Kerosene or fuel oil is a good lube.

    Good luck
