We have installed solar systems using the propress system.
You do have to change the o-ring to the proper temp rating.
If you were to visit Viessmann in Rhode Island you would discover that there solar display and alot of there other displays are all done with Propress.

Pro Press Rings
I was told NO enless we changed the rings inside the fitting. The information that I got wasn't all that sure even if we changed the rings so we didn't use propress.0 -
I hope so I have done it in the past.
We use in on hydronic systems with glycol in them so I cant see solar being a problem

pro press
Yes you can use pro press if you change the o-rings to steam rated o-rings. Temp of the fluid can get very hot.
Hope this helps.0 -
the problem
the problem in solar systems (closed loop ones anyway) is the equipment can be exposed to incredible temps if circulation stops (300° F +!) so any fittings or pipe must be able to withstand that.
on a related subject, i'll post a pic soon on why you shouldn't use pex on solar !0 -

After seeing the effect of \"bad\" glycol
that is glycol that has been overheated beyond it limit.. It will go after solder fairly quickly when the ph drops due to the overheat.
Typically solar systems have few fitting so my new policy is to silfos all glycol solar installations.
For runs through the attic or down a wall soft coiled copper, with high temperature insulation really cuts down on the solder connections.
Many of the Euro solar packages, Schuco for one, come with pre-insulated line sets. Unroll and make a couple compression fitting connections at the panel, and solar pump module.
From mny experience glycol tends to seep around o-ring, glycoled systems, after time.

interesting
I did notice the compression joints that come with the solar system. A light bulb went off in my head; thanks for the tid bit! I'll scope out a route for soft L.
