CI rad enclosure question

I looked at a large (36" h, 36" long) CI rad that is sitting in a recessed box. Surrounded by sheet metal, and built in real tight. What is the proper opening area around the rad for proper convection? The room is being remodeled and this is my chance to have the recess opened up if needed. Rad is sized for the room, but does not convect well in the recess.

Would a larger area across the top (taller) help dump heat into the room? Slanted out? A new cover is being made as well...opening / grille design ideas?
