Water Hammer

Member Posts: 6
I've recently replaced all of the old cast iron pipe & radiators on my hot water heating system with 1"copper mains feeding 3/4" copper lines and new baseboard units. The expansion tank and water feed valve were replaced as well. My new issue is water hammer when the circ pump starts!
Any thoughts as to the best way to eliminate?

Where is the circulator located? Are you "pumping away" from the expansion tank?0 -
The circulator is located at the boiler itself, on the return side0 -
You have air in the system. Your pumping towards. Pumping away makes the air bubbles smaller making it easir to move the air bubbles to the air collector. But, pumping towards is very capable of not prducing water hammer. try purging, is the air scoop a min of 18" from an elbow(very common) if problem shows up after installation. just a few posibilites.0
