Honeywell S86C intermittent pilot
Heater won't work, 24 volts going into this module and nothing coming out, the ignitor won't kick on.
Were can I buy this module, do I need to get it from honeywell. This module is old and so is the heater.
Thanks

Bill,
You should try getting it at your local supply house. If it is not in production anymore, Im sure Honeywell makes a replacement.0 -
Good news and bad news...
There is a replacement kit that will upgrade your entire ignition system, module, gas valve & ignition/pilot assembly. However, no reputable supply house will sell this item to a homeowner. Call your heating pro for installation. DO NOT ATTEMPT this yourself! You might also consider upgrading to a more efficient heating appliance. I don't mean to insult your abilities, but certain things MUST be done by a pro, for the safety of your family and property.0 -
Very well put Bill.:-)

My heater is working and just in time. It got below 32 degrees last night. I got it working after noon today what a joy.
Thanks for all the help.
I called the supply house this morning after I tried to get the part at home depot. They did not have the part but told me were to go find the ignition module.
The guy at the supply house gave me a price of 90 dollars and said it was a universal igniton module. When I got to the supply house it cost 99 dollars and 7 dollars tax the total was 106. Not bad for heat.
The wiring was different and the guy said to read the instruction. The print was so small it was hard to read.
It took a while but I finally figured it out for my self.
The pleasure in all of this was at home depot not at the supply house. After all these years they still don't respect the man walking off the street.
Honeywell should have a site that can tell you how to wire ignition modules even if they are universal. I went to honeywell site and they leave a lot to be desired.
Carol fey's book helped me a great deal with the 24 volts from the aquastate to the module. It had two black wires and it had to have one on the ground and one on the TH_W. The way I found the ground was from reading carol fey book about the way to find the netural wire when you have a black cord. one side is smooth and the other has lines on them.
Many thanks and happy holidays to all here.

Glad you have heat Bill, But
Keep in mind the funny looks, blow off attitude and call a pro is for a really good reason...... Hear me out on this one. You have succeeded in installing this module, not rocket science, BUT can you imagine someone that thought they knew they could do it them selves and the ultimate ending was the entire family was dead????
We Train constantly, know about problems and even trouble shoot mis-Engineered situations. We all love working together to make All safe That's our JOB. I don't know how to change stuff on my van, but I will look at it and ultimately say..."Ah Crap I'm gonna take this van to the pros....
I hope you understand. Ever see a dangerous stunt on TV?,..they first say, we are professionals and do not try this at home..... You would be surprised what can kill people and I would be dammed if it was something I had done or given info, or a part for that matter to help you kill the family...:-) According to my Liability insurer, I cannot sell, distribute or imply to fix anything to a customer if he or she wants to fix it them selves......
The Supply house that has sold you that part is so wide open to a LAW SUIT, it's not even remotely funny.....
