Mr. Gill please

You're one of the many whom has helped me in my education in steam heating. I feel like I'm still missing another piece from the equation. This is what I mean:
Recently on a new boiler install I sold a pressuretrol to vapor-stat replacement. I balanced all 10 rads in the home per your balancing steam systems guide. I set the vaporstat to the equivilant of the lowest setting of a pressuretrol. You guided me to reinstall the vapor-stat at the end of the main.
Before I did that everything heated up evenly on 8 oz. of pressure. Once I reinstalled the vapor-stat at the end of the main & set it to 1 oz. steam pressure, I had a chorus of singing rads & main vents. I felt at the lower pressure, the air vents were now venting too quickly. I installed all gorton #4's & the singing stopped. The system was not as balanced but I got the chorus to stop.
There must be a concept that I'm missing.
What can it be ?
